Charity
A primary focus of the American Golf Foundation is to raise funds and spread awareness about important needy causes through the vehicle of golf. This is accomplished through AGF Ambassadors who volunteer their time conducting charity golf tournaments and administering various on-course challenge contests and other fun fundraising activities in support of important causes. AGF is proud to have contributed over $8.6 million to a myriad of worthy charitable organizations over the past 22 years (2003 – 2025). A major source of our funding comes from the nominal $1-$10 donations made by generous golfing patrons who participate in the par-3 fundraising contests administered by the AGF Ambassadors. It’s amazing how every dollar adds up quickly, and we are happy to help make a difference in the communities in which we serve through this game we all love: GOLF.
Particularly inspiring is when AGF Ambassador teams connect with charities locally in their own backyard. Such examples of these types of wonderful relationships are San Diego region’s five courses – Lomas Santa Fe Executive, Mission Trails, National City, Tecolote Canyon, and Vineyard at Escondido – who support SCGA Junior (www.scgajunior.org) to help the local youth thrive on and beyond the course; the six courses representing Orange County – Anaheim Hills, Coyote Hills, Dad Miller, Lake Forest, and Rancho San Joaquin – who support First Tee - Orange County (www.firstteeorangecounty.org) and their ongoing youth development programming through the game of golf; and the five Long Beach area courses – El Dorado Park, Heartwell, Recreation Park 18, Recreation Park 9, and Skylinks – supporting Women Shelter Long Beach (www.womenshelterlb.org) which serves domestic violence victims and their families
We also step in to assist national disaster/crisis relief efforts. Our efforts have included fundraising for the relief and recovery after major hurricanes such as Katrina, Sandy, Harvey and Irma; the Columbine High School tragedy; wildfires in Northern and Southern California; the Indonesia Tsunami; the terrorist attacks of September 11; the earthquake victims of Haiti; and Japan’s earthquake and tsunami victims.
